Privacy Policy
This is a personal site and it keeps data to a minimum. Below is what data is collected when you visit, why, and on what legal basis. Terms such as “personal data” follow Art. 4 GDPR.

Cookies and consent
This site sets no tracking or marketing cookies and loads no services that recognise you across websites. The analytics (Matomo, see below) run cookieless. That is why there is no cookie banner.
The only technically necessary storage is a local setting of your own; under Section 25(2) TDDDG it does not require consent and contains no personal data:
- Theme choice (localStorage “theme”): remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. Stays in your browser and is not transmitted to me.
Hosting
The site runs on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. Hetzner processes the data arising when the page is loaded on my behalf; a data processing agreement (DPA) under Art. 28 GDPR is in place. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in a secure, reliable operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Server log files
When the page is accessed, the server automatically collects data and stores it temporarily in “server log files” (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): the file requested and the amount of data transferred, date and time, referrer, browser and operating system, and the (usually truncated) IP address. This data serves the secure operation of the site and is deleted after 7 days at the latest.
Fonts
All fonts are served locally from my own server. There is no connection to Google Fonts or other third parties, and no data is transmitted to third parties for this.
Getting in touch
If you email me, I process your details to answer your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR) and keep them only as long as that requires.
Analytics with Matomo
To statistically evaluate the use of this site I use the open-source software Matomo, which I host myself on my own server in Germany (analytics.leaster.it). No data is transmitted to third parties for this.
Matomo is deliberately configured in a privacy-friendly way: it sets no cookies (cookieless), IP addresses are processed shortened/anonymised, and there is no cross-site recognition. The evaluation is anonymous and does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about you personally. For this reason no consent is required – the legal basis is my legitimate interest in a needs-based, statistically evaluated design of the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Retention period: The data collected with Matomo is automatically deleted after no more than 180 days.
Objection (opt-out): You can object to the anonymous analytics at any time. Simply activate the option below – this sets only a technically necessary cookie that stores your objection so that you are no longer counted. Please note: if you delete your browser cookies, this opt-out cookie is removed too and must be set again.
Your rights
You have the right at any time to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR). Just write to me at the address above.
You can also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent one is the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
